St Joan of Arc Day 2024

On the 24th May, SJA celebrated SJA Day. This year is the 104th anniversary of our saint. We started the day at Mass to celebrate her then we completed various artworks promoting the use of recyclable materials.

Nursery
Made roosters out of rolls and collaged them with magazine pages.

Reception
Used recyclable materials to create images/icons of France.

Year 1 and 2
Created reverse silhouettes of the house logos using magazine pages.

Year 3 and 4
Researched saints beyond Europe. Y3 researched an Indian saint named Gonsalo Garcia and Y4 researched a Caribbean saint named Oscar Romero. They produced naan bread and Caribbean wraps in food technology.

Year 5 and 6
Used recyclable materials to create dioramas representing the 4 houses – her home in Domremy, flying the Fleur de Lys in battle, her death in Rouen and her canonisation at St Peter’s Basilica by Pope Benedict.
