What is the Primary Sports Premium?

This is a Government Grant that must be used to fund improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils so that they develop healthy and active lifestyles.

How much did the school receive?

In 2022- 2023 the school received £19,540

Key outcomes

  • High levels of enjoyment and participation through the PE curriculum as well as high quality PE lessons delivered
  • Staff CPD delivered to support the teaching of gymnastics
  • ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ themed week introduced external coaches to lead sporting sessions and additional workshops with Years 5 and 6
  • Pupils participated in an enriched curriculum with a range of opportunities to engage in high quality lessons and extra-curricular activities
  • Week long Cycling Proficiency course for year 6 pupils
  • Less active children identified and interventions/strategies put in place to support them
  • Inter-school competitions run regularly through the year where many children were given the opportunity to participate. The school scored highly in football, cricket and athletics
  • Pupils participated in an enriched curriculum with a range of opportunities to engage in high quality lessons and extra curricular activities
  • Effective assessment ensures gaps in attainment and progress are addressed
  • Staff confidence to lead extra-curricular activities and in-house competitions
  • Nominations made for virtual sportsman/ woman of the year awards

How we will sustain outcomes achieved

  • Continuous monitoring of PE within the school and regular evaluations
