Autism Acceptance Week from 27th March to 2nd April 2023

As part of our school’s commitment to raising awareness, we have planned the following activities:

1. School assembly on neurodiversity (child-friendly): We delivered a school assembly on neurodiversity to help children understand and appreciate the diversity of brains and different ways of thinking. Please see the video link below with a summary.

2. Juniors poster competition – Research and create a poster of a notable/famous neurodivergent person. All entries must be returned and submitted by the week ending 20th April. (Please use template attached)3. Creative art project – “This is me”: All children are encouraged to record their name using any type of material and colour that best represent them (no bigger than 10cm x 10cm). These will be used to create a larger art project to celebrate the uniqueness of each child. All entries must be returned and submitted by the week ending 20th April.

5. Readthon Challenge: As part of your readathon challenge, why not try a book that celebrates difference or Autism. Reading list attached from children from Reception to Year 6

We believe that these activities will be a great way to learn about autism and promote understanding and acceptance in our school community.
